Rousseau MusicPad serves as an effective tool for comprehending and employing numbered musical notation. Its seven-note keypad facilitates input of both numerical and traditional note representations, accompanied by the timbre of an Italian harpsichord. Users can play melodies in either direction, with adjustable buttons that allow for changes in key and octave, the addition of accidentals, and varied formatting options.

Furthermore, melodies can be conveniently imported from the iReal Pro app clipboard, and exported to iReal Pro or any compatible application that supports Midi or MusicXML formats.

This system for Numbered Musical Notation (nmn) was developed by the Geneva-born philosopher and composer Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), who first introduced it to the French Academy of Sciences in 1742. Notably, it bears a resemblance to the simplified notation known as "jianpu" commonly used in East Asia.
